Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2025.

Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how Asq ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website at asqpro.ai, our Chrome extension, and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Data we collect

We collect only what is needed to provide and improve the Service:

  • Account data. When you sign up, we receive your email, name, and authentication data through our identity provider (Clerk). We do not store your password; authentication is handled by Clerk.
  • Call data. When you use the extension to start a call, we process audio from the tab you share to produce a live transcript. We store the transcript and any notes (generated or written by you) so you can view them in your dashboard. Audio is streamed to our transcription provider and is not stored by us in raw form.
  • Resume and call context. You may optionally paste or upload a resume (PDF or text) and describe the call (e.g. who is on the call). We use this only to tailor question and answer suggestions for you. You can leave these fields empty.
  • Extension connection. When you connect the Chrome extension to your account, we store a connection token in the extension's local storage on your device so you stay signed in. This token is not shared with third parties except our own servers for authentication.
  • Payment data. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number. We store only what Stripe provides (e.g. subscription status, customer ID) to manage your plan.

How we use your data

We use your data solely to (1) provide the Service (transcription, AI-generated questions and answers, notes, dashboard); (2) authenticate you and keep your extension connected; (3) process subscriptions and support billing; (4) respond to support or legal requests when necessary. We do not sell your data. We do not use your call content, resume, or transcripts for advertising or to train third-party AI models beyond what is required to generate your suggestions (see Third-party providers below).

Chrome extension

The Asq Chrome extension runs in a side panel and, when you choose "Start call," asks you to share a browser tab (e.g. your video call). That tab's audio is captured only after you explicitly share it and is sent to our servers for transcription. The extension stores your connection token and optional preferences locally. It does not read or modify other web pages except where our content script is allowed (e.g. asqpro.ai) to support the connect flow. No calendar or other integrations auto-join calls; you control when the extension is used.

Third-party providers

We use the following providers to run the Service. Each has its own privacy policy; we encourage you to review them:

Our infrastructure (e.g. hosting) may involve additional subprocessors. We choose providers that commit to appropriate security and data handling standards.

Retention

We retain your account and call data (transcripts, notes) for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove your personal data and call data in line with our retention policy and applicable law. Some data may remain in backups for a limited period before being purged.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account and associated data through your account settings (e.g. Clerk) or by contacting us. For other requests (e.g. data portability or restriction of processing), contact us at info@echodigital.ca. We will respond in accordance with applicable law. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

Cookies and local storage

The website and extension may use cookies and local storage for session management, preferences, and keeping you signed in. We do not use these for third-party advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may limit some features.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data in transit and at rest. No system is completely secure; we encourage you to use a strong password and to share your screen only when you intend to use the Service.

Children

The Service is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected a child's data, please contact us at info@echodigital.ca so we can delete it.

International transfers

Our servers and providers may be located outside your country. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to those locations. We ensure appropriate safeguards where required by law.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. For material changes, we will notify you via the app or email where appropriate.
